Facts about Venturing

          Venturing is a young adult program of the BSA for men and women 14 (who have completed the 8th grade) through 20 years of age.

Youth member is a “Venturer”

A unit is called a “Venturing Crew”

Venturing adults are “advisors”

Youth leader is the “president”

 

Venturing Oath

As a Venturer, I promise to do my duty to God and help strengthen America, to help others, and to seek truth, fairness, and adventure in our world.

 

Open House

On Sunday October 1, come over to Mr. Lewis’s house to learn about the next year in Venturing.  We will have a pot luck meeting from 1:30-3pm.  We will discuss the schedule.  Address is 214 Bradley Street.   Come meet the Crew!

 

Crew 325 Service Project

October 7, 8 and 9 Crew 325 will assist the St. Philip, K of C Tootsie Roll Fundraiser for the Mentally Disabled.  Sign-ups for stores and times will occur at our open house.

 

Camporee

October 13, 14 and 15 are the dates of our Fall Camporee.  On Saturday, we will conduct a 8 hour Venturer Leadership Development Course.  Menu and more details will be planned at our Open House.

 

Backpacking at Yankee Springs

On November 3, 4, and 5, we will backpack at Yankee Springs.  Football will be over so we can enjoy the outdoors and hike at Yankee Springs near Gun Lake.  We can help the Troop with their Orienteering and remember the Devil’s Soup Bowl.

 

 

          Three of our 12 man crew rest at Philmont (Summer 2003).  Mike Lewis, Joe Brutsche, Trevor Klein, Pat and Mitch Jennings, Derek Thurmer, Dr. Thurmer and Mr. Klein made a High Adventure Trek through the famous Ranch.  White Water rafting is an option for this summer.  What do you want to experience this summer?

 

 


 

Ski and Snow Board Trip

On January 13, 14 and 15, we will make our annual trip up north to enjoy Snow Sports.  Our heated chalet is 1 mile from 2 ski slopes.  Harbor Springs Private Residence Lodging; Nubs Nob Ski http://www.nubsnob.com; Boyne Highland Resort http://www.boynemountain.com.  Cabin – Free; $15 for food,  Lift tickets and rentals available.  Leave 7am Saturday; Return 6pm Monday.
